Solstice Signage is a collaborative project that explores the relationship between light, shadow, and communication through experimental signage design. Inspired by the winter solstice phenomenon at Newgrange, the project investigates how light can become an active part of the way signage functions and is experienced. Our final outcome was a welcome sign designed to transform throughout the day, using shifting light and shadow to create an interactive and immersive visual effect.

Developed through site research, ideation, fabrication, and installation, the project combined digital and physical making processes to create a sign that responded directly to its environment. Using CNC machining, layered materials, and transparent elements, we aimed to produce a design that became most visible when illuminated directly by light. Alongside contributing to the conceptual and physical development of the project, I was responsible for documenting the process and designing a process book that captured the evolution of the work from research to final exhibition.
