Project Overview:

The Accordion Boot is a speculative footwear design project focused on creating a more inclusive approach to boot sizing. Responding to the disconnect between standardized sizing and real body diversity, I explored how design can better accommodate a range of calf shapes without compromising on style or quality. User research revealed a clear need for boots that are both adaptable and aesthetically considered, informing the direction of the project.

I developed the concept through sketching, iterative ideation, and physical prototyping, ultimately producing a functional boot with an expandable upper system. The final prototype was constructed using custom fabrication methods, including sole casting and leather assembly. This project demonstrates my approach to problem-solving through design, combining user-centered thinking with technical making skills to deliver an innovative and inclusive product.
